April
2008

Well,
Gunnar and Birgit have lots of news this month!
The
winter season is almost over, and has been very busy and
eventful.
See
the Show and Clinic
Schedule for detailed results, but a quick show synopsis reveals
that Gunnar's up and coming FEI horse, "Monhegan", whose photos is
above, has won his first two Intermediare I classes! And
Birgit rode Elise Ame's young horse, "Safri", to the top spot in his
very first First Level test (at his very first show). Photo to
right. Cheryl Holekamp and Hera have shown successfully at Grand
Prix, as has Gunnar onboard Katherine Heller's Lob Light at Prix St.
Georges and Intermediare I.
Gunnar
is currently in Europe, spending some time with his family. Of
course he'll also be on the lookout for outstanding horses. After
a brief return to Ocala on April
19th, Gunnar will begin packing up for the spring trip to Vermont.
Be
sure to see the Show and Clinic
Schedule. It has been updated with Gunnar's
very latest
clinic schedule. As on previous trips, Gunnar will be conducting
several clinics on the route to Vermont. This trip will include
stops in Atlanta, GA; Aiken, SC; Blue Ridge, GA; Chester Springs, PA;
and both Long Island and Goshen, NY. Phew!
Congratulations
to Stephanie Landvater, on her recent purchase of "Rudolph".
Gunnar and Birgit are looking forward to helping Stephanie transition
her hunter/jumper experience to dressage! And to Holly Spencer
who recently purchased "Festina" through Deerwood Farm.
The
new and improved covered outdoor arena is finished, and now has
beautiful kickboards and lettering. It is quite a nice
update! Thanks to Gail Rein for the dressage letters. A
photo is below.

Birgit is happy with the progress of her young mare, Amaryllis.
Her photo is to left, with working students Jesse and Lene.
And finally, some imortant news about a change "brewing" for Deerwood
Farm South: Gunnar and Birgit have decided to put this property
up for sale. But don't panic! Once the farm sells (and in
this real estate market, it could take some time) training, boarding
and lesson operations will continue as usual, at Tom and Fran Cross's
property, King Oak Farm South, which is just ten minutes away.
Their farm is also in Ocala, closer to route 40 and features a
beautiful upscale barn and lovely setting. Photos will be posted
when available.

January
2008
As
usual, the winter Florida season is very busy. Gunnar and Birgit
have horses and students from 14 states in their barn and in for
lessons and training! In fact, they are so busy that they will
return to Vermont a bit later than normal, in May instead of April.
Please take a look at the Show and Clinic
Schedule, as it has just been updated! All are looking
forward to a successful winter show season, and Gunnar is looking
forward to his clinic travel.
Also updated is the list of Horses for
Sale and Sold.
They have been making some small, but important improvements to the
farm. The covered outdoor is being enclosed which will increase
safety for both horses and riders. And a new improved driveway
will make it easier for trucks and trailers. (The gate though,
for those of you who are wondering, is still the same!)
And finally, Gunnar and Birgit received this cute photo from Amy McElry
and her "crew"! It looks as though they had a good 2007 season,
congratulations!
